In 1956 a film was made named the Red Balloon. The film was made with almost no words. The things that tell the story is the music, actions, and, the different shots. Like the picture to the left its shows a couple of different type of shots. The types of shots is like this one is a medium shot, a framing shot, and kind of a transitional medium to long shots, and kind of tracking shot. This shot also kind of silhouettes the little boy as he is floating up with the balloons. This silhouette kind of makes all he colors pop out even more the other colors are dull or muted into the background of the scene.
Through out this film there is a series of music and colors. The music that was played kind of symbolizes the mood of the section of the film. Like the time that the little boy went back to catch his balloon and the little girl was standing there with her blue balloon the music in the background was kind of a soft tingling sound which i associate with friendship. Then there was the shot of the balloon outside of the church and the music was slow and sounded kind of lonely like because the balloon was left behind. Through the film it kind of show that the whole film has personification through out the film just visual and not readable. The personification is all kind of symbolized by the balloon that seems to have a mind of its own following the little boy where ever he goes and following the orders of the little boy. There is one really good close up shot near the end of the film that the boys are all fighting around the red balloon and the camera zooms in on one little boys face to shot the focus and intention of destruction. that is when the balloon is "killed" so the speak.
This film kind of symbolizes the world and how there are groups of people who all want something different and so they all fight over it. Like in the film there are the Three different groups of the boys one group wants the balloon to play with the boy himself wants the balloon for himself and the group of boys that wants to destroy it.
