Related Epic Films Post

We finished our epic film unit with PowerPoint presentation Comparing various epic films to Lord of the Rings. There are four presentations I'm going to talk about in this post. The four presentations are The Matrix, 300, Saving Private Ryan, Pirates of the Carribbean. I will describe one detail from each presentation that I thought was the best point made during the presentations.
During the presentation of The Matrix, a link to YouTube of Neo fighting Morpheus was included. Morpheus was training to teach Neo to believe and he can do anything. The presentation was great because there was many great points made during it. There is Frodo and Neo that Start to be seemingly unimportant and turn out to the be the epic heroes of the films. They where both pulled form a safe place into a dangerous and difficult life. They both fight for a similar idea.

300 had a great point as well. I think that the best thing in the presentation was the comparison of the heroes leaving home was effectively done. The heroes stand against the forces of evil to defend their home. This video is a great way to show how the hero fights and defend his homeland. Spear Throw

Saving Private Ryan had a couple of good points during the presentation. Relating the small group of military men to fellowship in the presentation Saving Private Ryan was an excellent choice. Both groups are fighting for a single important individual. for Ryan and the fellowship for Frodo.

The Pirates of the Carribbean had its good points I like the idea that Orlando Bloom plays in both movies. There is the strong supernatural elements involved in the films. They both also share similar meaning and themes.
The heroes in all these films have been tested time and time again through fighting, endurance, and choices. All these films share similar meanings like believe in yourself and the ones you trust. Fight for what you believe in, the people you love, and the your home. There is also the point that even the smallest of people can make a difference or even the people that seem unimportant can also make the biggest of differences in the world. The famous saying that "the enemy of my enemy is a friend" comes into play in some of these films  even the most unlikely alliances can come into place if there is a world wide threat.
